Bhon Phlateau dhan a’ Chladach now available
Bhon Phlateau dhan a’ Chladach, published in 2019 by Bradan Press, is the first Gaelic poetry collection from Calum L. MacLeòid, 2016 winner of the Scottish Book Trust Gaelic New Writers Award for prose.
Written while Calum lived in Montreal, the poems in the collection focus on urban culture and landscape in Canada and Scotland, relationships both failed and successful, the lives of everyday objects, and emigrant life as a Gael mediated through the internet.
Gaelic resources for the book
Bhon Phlateau dhan a’ Chladach is written entirely in Gaelic and does not contain parallel English translations. Bradan Press has produced a Gaelic vocabulary sheet for several of the poems as a free PDF download to support intermediate and advanced Gaelic learners.
The livestream video of the book launch in May 2019 is also available on the Bradan Press YouTube channel.
We’ve also shared a series of poem graphics with excerpts from poems in the collection:
“Na Fir Chlis agus Cupa Stanley”
“Dàin Toronto: A’ chiad latha”
“An Oidhche a Shiubhail Leonard Cohen”
All that and it’s on sale!
