Remembering Gayle Weatherson
We’re terribly sad to announce that Gayle Weatherson, the artist-author of Fàilte! A Colouring Book of Scottish Gaelic Phrases & Proverbs, passed away on August 26, 2025.
Gayle’s work has delighted adults and children alike. Her colouring book has helped to bring greater awareness and appreciation for Scottish Gaelic to thousands of people. Gayle was wonderful, warm, talented, skilled, and funny, and we will miss her terribly.
Below is one of Gayle’s February 2025 pieces made from her recliner, and some older pieces that she had recently posted informally. This is just a tiny taste of Gayle’s skill and vision. She also made the necklace that she wore in her author photo. We were in awe of her talent and wished we could have collaborated on many more books.
