Double Book Launch at the Gaelic College, Cape Breton
On June 10th as part of their Spring Gaelic Weekend, the Gaelic College in Cape Breton hosted our joint book launch for Catriona NicÌomhair Parsons Cridhe ‘s Anam and Dr. James R. MacDonald’s Na Trì Mathain. Below are some photos and video links.
Here are videos of the two book launches in Talla Mhic Coinnich / MacKenzie Hall at the Gaelic College. They happened back to back, but we’ve split them into two separate videos for convenience. Enjoy reading along with your copies of the books!
Book Launch at the Grandfather Mountain Gaelic Language & Song Week, North Carolina
In July, Catriona Parsons was one of the instructors at the 2023 Grandfather Mountain Gaelic Song & Language Week, which takes place each year in the week before the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in North Carolina, USA. The Gaelic Language & Song Week generously hosted a launch for Cridhe ‘s Anam / Heart & Soul on July 7th. We’re so happy that attendees could enjoy Catriona’s stories, poetry and singing along with their classes. Volunteers continued to share our Gaelic books with the public at Donald’s Gaelic Tent all during the Highland Games weekend.
Book Launch at the Antigonish Highland Games
The Antigonish Highland Games in Nova Scotia are always the same weekend as the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, and as the founder of the Grandfather Mountain Gaelic Language & Song Week, normally Dr. Jamie MacDonald would have been volunteering there. But this year, he happened to be in Antigonish County while Catriona was in his home territory (you might even say they swapped places!). So on July 7th, while Catriona was busy in North Carolina, we held a launch event for Jamie’s book Na Trì Mathain at the Antigonish Library as part of the Antigonish Highland Games week events! Jamie read the book aloud, we sang a Gaelic song about porridge of course (“Brochan Lom”), and we made a bear craft!
Mòran taing / Many thanks to our hosts, authors, and readers for these lovely summer book launch events! For more information about the new books visit our website…or visit us in person this coming weekend at the New Brunswick Highland Games in Fredericton!
