Happy Gaelic Nova Scotia Month from Bradan Press!
Today we want to recommend the fourth Scottish Gaelic poetry collection from Lewis MacKinnon, Ràithean airson Sireadh. Journey through the Celtic year with Sufi mystic Rumi. Rumi’s poetry, which has been interpreted into English by Coleman Barks and translated into Gaelic by Nova Scotia poet Lewis MacKinnon, is an enriching and culturally diverse collection of poetry.
Two thirds of the poetry present in this collection are Lewis MacKinnon’s translations of the poems of Rumi, interpreted by Barks. The other third are original poems by MacKinnon. Shared in both Scottish Gaelic and English, this collection of poetry is rich and diverse in nature that muses Middle Eastern and Gaelic cultures through poetry.
Ràithean airson Sireadh is also available as an enchanting audiobook.
