We wanted to share a little bit more behind the scenes this month as editing is in progress for the first half of the translation! We don’t have much to share in regards to the editing process, but we do have a beloved quote from the beginning of Chapter 16.
“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
This quote translates to ‘Tha mi cho toilichte gu bheil mi beò ann an saoghal far a bheil mìosan Dàmhair.’ in Scottish Gaelic.
We love Anne and how she sees the beauty in everything. Wouldn’t it be just lovely to place the gorgeous boughs of a maple tree in your room?
As well as this lovely quote, we also have a well-known phrase to share: cothrom mac-meanmach – scope for imagination
We also want to congratulate our translator, Mòrag Anna NicNèill, who won the third prize at the Donald Meek Award for her original children’s story ‘Artair sa Chaisteal’ [Arthur in the Castle]. The Donald Meek Award is an important Gaelic literary competition in Scotland.
